| Work Schedule: | Participants will be having different shifts. Many shifts will be approximately 8 hours. Shifts and schedules may change during the course of the program. | |
| Average Weekly Hours: | 32 hours are guaranteed. (Overtime may be available during busy periods). October and November may be slower. | |
| Starting Wage: | $8.00 per hour (less State and Federal taxes and any other required deductions). | |
| Overtime: | Overtime will be 1.5 times the regular pay rate (for over 40 hours during a 5-6 days week). | |

| Arrival Information: | From Chicago O’Hare airport take the CTA blue line E1 train. The train will leave every 10 minutes. Take the CTA blue line to the Clinton Street stop (about 50 minutes). Get off the train and exit the station. Walk 1 block south on Clinton Street to Harrison Street. Go right on Harrison Street. The downtown Greyhound Bus Station will be 1 block ahead at 630 West Harrison. Can also take a taxi but this will cost about $35. Can take a Greyhound bus from the Chicago Station to the Wisconsin Dells (look for current scheduled times at www.greyhound.com). The Greyhound bus drops you off in the Dells at the Citgo Gas Station at 611 Frontage Road. The Pine Aire Motel can pick you up at the Citgo at no cost. In order to have the complimentary pick up you must contact the Pine Aire Motel before you get on the bus so they can go ahead and make arrangements to pick you up at Citgo. You can also take a taxi from the Gas station to the Motel. The Pine Aire Motel will not pay for your taxi. | |
| Additional Requirement: | Participants must know how to swim well as they will be required to pass a lifeguard certification ( includes swimming eight laps in a 25 meter pool and picking up a 3 kg weight in 2 meters of water) whe n rotating in Recreation. Those who fail the swim test may be sent back home. | |
| Work Uniforms: | Uniforms are provided. Cost of the uniforms will be deducted from payroll check. Uniforms are to be worn at the training site only. Detailed information will be provided along with this description. | |
| Housing: | Participants are responsible for contacting the Hotel prior to departure to book a room. The hotel will send them a housing agreement and will request a security deposit, payable by credit card. Housing Type: Hotel, 2 participants per room. There is no need to bring sheets, pillows and blankets, but do bring a towel. USD 70/week, shared accommodations (two per room, double beds or twin beds). USD 100 security deposit upon arrival. Part of it will be refunded if the room is returned in good order (clean and tidy with nothing damaged) upon completion of the program. | |
| On site transportation: | Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from work. Participants from past seasons have used the services of a shuttle company to get to work. He also has a schedule to shop at Wal-Mart or go to Madison or elsewhere. | |
| Other Important Info: | Kalahari is in a small town in the State of Wisconsin very far from any large cities. Kalahari is a well-known resort that features one of America’s largest water parks. A training at Kalahari will be fun and a great experience in the recreation or hospitality field. This is the test participants will have to undergo upon arrival:
